Our Sheep

Our flock consists of two different Dairy sheep breeds and a variety of commercial Meat sheep breeds.

We keep the following Dairy sheep breeds:

  • Lacaune Dairy sheep or French Dairy sheep, which perform very well on our pasture based system, are robust and good milk producers, with healthy udders. Their milk production is in the average about 1.5 Liters a day and the average litter size (amount of lambs born) is 2.0 lambs for the spring lambing and 1.5 lambs for the fall lambing.
  • East Friesian Dairy sheep or German Dairy sheep. The ewes produce in the average about 1.4 Liters a day on pasture and they average 2.2 lambs for the spring lambing and 1.7 lambs for the fall lambing.

Meat sheep :

  • Right now we keep Charolais and Rideau Arcott sheep for our range lamb production. The female sheep are good mothers and sturdy on the pasture. The rams are docile and produce healthy and meaty lambs.
